Finance Department

About Us

The Finance Department is responsible for ensuring compliance with established laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. The Finance Department also makes recommendations regarding the strengthening of internal controls and/or the more efficient use of city resources. The department provides technical financial guidance to elected and appointed officials and to city departments. 

The department directs all financial functions to include investment of city funds, risk management, contract administration, purchasing, accounting, financial reporting, collections, accounts payable, and administering the city budget.

The Finance department develops the city budget with departments; justifies and defends budget requirements; negotiates with elected and appointed officials on budget matters; administers budget in accordance with established requirements. Monitors and/or approves expenditures; negotiates purchase agreements with vendors; submits financial forms and reports. The Finance department establishes and maintains relations with financial institutions, investment agencies and outside auditors. The Finance department also researches and monitors state or local laws or rules regarding accounting policies and practices and develops long range financial plans and policies in conjunction with elected and appointed officials.

The Finance Department includes Finance Administration, Budgeting, Accounting, Purchasing, Customer Service, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable.
