City Attorney
The City Attorney is one of three Charter Officers appointed by the City Commission and serves as the City's chief legal advisor.
Powers and Duties
The City Attorney’s duties are prescribed by contract and outlined in the City’s Code of Ordinances. As provided in Chapter 2, Article III, Division 3 of the City of Pahokee Code of Ordinances:
"The City Attorney shall act as the legal adviser to the City Commission, the City Manager, and all departments, offices, and agencies of the City. The City Attorney shall serve at the pleasure of the City Commission."
"When required to do so by the City Commission, the City Attorney shall prosecute or defend, on behalf of the City, all complaints, suits, and controversies in which the City is a party; shall prepare or review all contracts, bonds, and other instruments in which the City is concerned, and shall endorse thereon approval or disapproval of the legal sufficiency of the form. No contract with the City shall take effect until it has been so endorsed as approved by the City Attorney. The City Attorney shall perform such other duties as may be directed by the City Commission or the laws of this state."
