HISTORY:
Port Mayaca Memorial Gardens was formed as a result of the 1928 Hurricane that claimed the lives of many Glades residents. The cemetery houses a memorial to the hurricane victims as over 1600 people were buried at Port Mayaca after the hurricane.  The three cities of Pahokee, Belle Glade and South Bay formed a Trust that operated the cemetery until 1992 when the City of Pahokee took total control and operation of the Memorial Gardens.
 
Port Mayaca Memorial Gardens is located in unincorporated Martin County on State Road 76.  The location is an ideal place; it is tranquil, beautiful, and spacious and the opportunity for expansion has been secured through recent purchase of additional land that will assure that the cemetery can offer interment space for many years to come. Also the Memorial Gardens was fortunate enough to have a benefactor in Vencent Henderson who built the new mausoleum in 1993 to honor his wife and also granted the City of Pahokee an endowment of $875,000 to maintain the cemetery permanently.  The City of Pahokee also has established a Perpetual Care fund that assures that the cemetery will be maintained if ever the cemetery reaches capacity.
 
Port Mayaca Memorial Gardens now offers a full line of memorial products.  Staff on site can assist with your every need.  The Memorial Gardens office is located on the cemetery grounds.

ABOVE GROUND INTERMENT:
Port Mayaca Memorial Gardens offers a beautiful, peaceful resting place. The Henderson Memorial Chapel houses 125 crypts leveling 1 to 6.
 
GROUND BURIAL:
The newest ground burial section of Port Mayaca Memorial Gardens is the "Garden Section" (currently Blocks A, B, C, & D).
 
The Garden section offers many options with lots ranging from single lots to six (6) grave lots - with a variety of memorial options by section; including upright or flat bronze memorials.
Port Mayaca Memorial Gardens offers an at need burial package that includes the lot, concrete vault liner and the opening and closing of the interment site.  The section of the cemetery being used is in the original section of the Cemetery referred to as the Old Section.  This section of the cemetery has a great history behind it.
